Summary, etc.: | This is a film about post-Soviet Russia seen through the eyes of the filmmaker, as she returns to her home town (Vladivostok, Russian Far East) after a decade of absence with the intention of resettling there. Unusual places, unusual characters, unusual ways-about, unusual mentality becomes a colorful and contrasting carousel of her welcome-home. And she comes to the realization that there is no place for her in this drastically changed country. She decides to sell her apartment and come back to New York. The symbolic butterfly of fulfillment and happiness she was trying to find there lives neither in Russia or New York, but within. |
